You can easy find tutorial to install Android on VMware, but it seem things are changed. You can do exactly as they guide, but i’m sure, you will not be able to install it successful. Most of you will success on install but when you reboot, your Android boot stuck on Boot Logo in VMWare. That why i wrote this post to help you install latest Android on latest VMware.
Where to download latest android?
You can download the latest or stable, developer or Nightly version of Android at Android ISO for PC
Or if you have your own ISO files, just use it. Remember, in this tutorial, i use iso file to install android on VMware.
Where to download latest VMware Workstation?
For virtual machine on your PC, there many option like VMWare Workstation, Virtual Box … But i’m friendly with VMWare so i will try to install Android on my VMWare.
Remember, VMWare is commercial license software, but you can use it for free in trial version in 14 Days. Now, you just go to VMWare Offfical Website to download VMWare Workstation latest version
Now, Let’s start install Android on VMWare Workstation:
Before you start, remember, you have 1 gmail account to active Google Play Store.
Open your VMware and click into Create a New Virtual Machine,choose Typical and then click Next.
Next windows, choose Installer disk images file. Browse to your Android ISO file downloaded above, then Next.
Name your New Machine, in Bien Thuy computer, i set it name “Android”, and browse to Location to locate the Virtual files of this Android Virtual Machine. Normally, i set it and locate it in VM folder of D driver.
Next windows, just choose what ever: Store virtual disk as single file or Split Virtual disk into Multiple files.
BY default, it only have 256MB of RAM for this Android Virtual machine, you can press Customize Hardware to increase it to about 1GB or 2GB of RAM. Then press Finish to install it.
Your new Virtual Android will reboot and start install. First, it will ask you to create partitions to install on.
Choose NO if it ask you want to use GPT.
Now use your arrow key ( ) to select New and press Enter
Next, select Primary then press Enter
It will create primary partitions to install our Virtual Android machine. When done, it will show you Primary partition, it will automatic select Bootable, you have to press Enter to enable bootable function.
Then, use your arrow key on your keyboard to select Write and press Enter
It ask you “Are you sure you want to write the partition table to disk? (yes or no). Now you input yes and press Enter.
When done, it show a message “Wrote partition table to disk”. Now use arrow key on your keyboard and choose Quit, then press Enter.
It will back to install screen and ask you choo Partition. Just press Enter to choose.
Next step, use your arrow key to choose ext4 as filesystem, then press Enter.
If it ask you “Are you sure to format the partition sda1?”, just press Enter to choose “yes”
Install progress will ask you to install boot loader Grub on that partition, please choose Yes by press Enter.
Next screen, it will confirm you that “Do you want to install /system directory as read-write?”. Just confirm by press Enter to choose Yes.
All things done, it will take about 1-3 minutes to write data to partitions and copy data from ISO file to system.
If there is no error, your Android machine is ready. Some thing on screen will show you that “Android-x86 is installed syccessfully”. And you have 2 option. Just use your arrow key on your keyboard to choose Reboot and press Enter.
Then, if nothing wrong, you will see startup screen of your Android machine like image below. If you got an error or your system stuck at Boot screen or stuck at command screen, the you need to go to post “How to fix ” to fix it.
Then, your android system is ready to Config and use. Now, it will start your new Virtual Android machine, but, most of you will stuck on Logo Boot. It cannot setup. Please read “How to fix Android X86 6.0 boot stuck on Boot Logo in VMWare”.
